The Last House On The Left

THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER-FREE!

It's seems like the most recent trend in cooking up a horror film is to add in a pinch of humour. And "The Last House On The Left" is what Jack Neo would calls it, a hormedy.

What initially attracted me to this movie was its poster as of above. Don't that house in the poster looks suspiciously familiar to those other horror movies with houses?

In fact, I think all the horror movies with houses is filmed in the same house with slight modifications made to the house.

Anyway, "The Last House On The Left" is a movie deserved to be watched. Although this movie is coined as a slasher flick but no, it isn't your average mindless-indestructable antagonist slashing a bunch of innocent passer-by Xs. This movie kicks off with 4 wanted criminals on the run.

Then, there's this 2 girls that befriends the kindest fugitive among those 4 but eventually got raped and murdered by the other 3.

These 4 criminals continue to be on the run. So darn coincendentally, they took shelter in one of the victim's parent's house.

What's even better is that eventually, Mr and Mrs Victim's Parents found out that it was these 3 bastards that fucked around with their daughter. What goes on next in the movie is a series of what I would call, "revenge porn".

Mr and Mrs Victim's Parents preparing to kick the hell out of their daughter's attackers.

What made this movie very worth watching was 3 things:
1)That scene which involves the 2 girls being raped and killed was great. No, I'm not sadistic. I mean it was cinematographic-good's great. To be more exact, I think that part was awesome for its realism. The running/raping/chasing/crawling in the rain actually made me almost jump up from my seat.

Victim girl whose parents eventually executed revenge for her sake against her attackers.

2)The part which the revenge porn took place. How long has it been since you saw your movie's protagonist plotting and executing violent revenge against the movie's antagonist? I mean for a slasher flick, it's real good a plot to making the slashing at the villians. And during this the revenge porn, there's so many moments that made the audience break into laughters!

Mrs Victim's Parents taking revenge against one of the attackers.

3)There's a moral behind all these slashing/raping/hammering/kicking/shooting/hanging boobies. I think that moral is there's karma... or something along that line...

Conclusion:
The only part which I think did this movie bad was near the opening, which they gave the background story on how our protagonist landed at the last house on the left, kind of draggy and slow. But after that, all the action's in. There's no ghost and ghouls in this film and no "BOO!" moments. The plot is rather straight forward. The acting was great and realistic. So, go watch this film if you believe in karma, likes taking revenge in a cynical way, or simple like to laugh at people dying "funnily".

The Last House On The Left:
3.5/5
